Camping is a wonderful way to connect with nature and experience the landscape in a peaceful and sustainable way. Wake up to birdsong, fall asleep under the starry sky, and truly feel the rhythm of nature.

Thanks to the Right of Public Access (Allemansrätten), you are allowed to camp for a single night in nature. Be respectful of landowners by carefully choosing a spot where you can pitch your tent on firm ground, without risking damage to nature or disturbing wildlife. Choose a location far from residential houses.

In nature reserves and recreational areas, the regular Right of Public Access does not fully apply. These areas have specific restrictions to protect the environment. Sometimes camping is completely prohibited; in other cases, it is allowed for one night at the same spot or only in designated areas.

You are personally responsible for finding out what rules apply.

Before pitching your tent:

  • Check local regulations – information is often available on the site’s website or on signs at the entrance.
  • Choose your spot carefully – avoid camping in meadows with sensitive flora, near bird nests, or close to water sources used by animals.
  • Camp for a maximum of two nights in the same place, unless otherwise stated.
  • Be considerate of other visitors – keep your distance and avoid disturbing others with noise or light.

Tips for a sustainable camping experience:

  • Take all trash home – even small items like strings, plastic pieces, or food scraps.
  • Use a camping stove instead of making a fire, especially where fire bans are in effect.
  • Wash dishes and yourself with eco-friendly products, always at least 100 meters from water sources.
  • Respect wildlife – keep your dog on a leash and avoid disturbing animals’ natural behavior.
