Målerås - Ödevata

When you cycle "Upptäckarturen" you will experience a typical Småland countryside with forests, farms, villages, small fields, stone walls, fences, churches and communities.

Målerås - Gullaskruv/Hälleberga - Orrefors

From Målerås there are alternative routes south. New and old road 31 and the railway bank or a combination. The new road 31 is a 90 road with occasionally intense traffic. The railway bank slopes downwards all the time and is a gravel road. Old road 31 is mainly a gravel road and ends in Gullaskruv/Hälleberga.

In Gullaskruv you will find Carlo R. Pebaqués Design and in Orrefors you will find fine mill environments an old hammer forge and glass blowing at Orranäs mill. In Orrefors there is a shop and eateries.

Orrefors - Nybro/Madesjö - Toresbo - Ödevata route

You can continue on the railway embankment or new road 31 or take a turn over Flygsfors and later choose an alternative route. Just outside Nybro you come out on the new road 31. Cycle towards Madesjö church with church stables. Right next door is Sandberg's bakery with café.

When you have passed under the railroad and under the new road 25, you are up on old road 25. Before you turn off towards Toresbo, you pass Mickes glashytta and later Toresbo kvarnby and Knappsmåla. Then road 120 and left at the sign Buggehult and soon you see Ödevata Gårdshotell and Fiskecamp across the lake.

Ödevata

Once you arrive at the idyllic Ödevata Gårdshotell and Fiskecamp, the farm between the lakes, you can take a dip or sauna. The farm has its roots from the 1880s. Maybe you want to stay an extra day and check out the aquaponics farming, biochar production, fishing, hiking or just enjoy the peace and nature.

Ödevata - Målerås

From Ödevata there are a couple of road options. One goes via Lindås/Emmaboda, which is called Direkt-turen. We have chosen to continue to describe the Upptäckarturen.

Ödevata - Eskilsryd - Örsjö - Boda route

Today you cycle back the same forest road and road 120, as you came. Turn left at Eskilsryd's community and cycle under the railway. Continue the village road to Skräddaregärde and Skäragärde and then the asphalt road to the right. Before you cross road 120, you will see a typical crofter's cottage from the 19th century on the right.

The hexagonal church in Örsjö from 1893 is worth a stop. After Örsjö you will cycle on Häradsvägen, which starts at the end of Långebacke. After a few km there is a Milsten from the 1650s.

You cross road 25 three times and pass through the well-kept village of Buttetorp and come to the glassworks village of Boda. There is glass blowing, a glass museum and a hobo museum. In summer there is a street kitchen and kiosk.

The route - Boda - Lake Orranäsasjön - Hälleberga/Gullaskruv - Målerås

Cycle through Boda. After Hermanstorp you cycle a mile of curvy asphalt road through the Småland forest landscape. Occasional houses appear along the way. A rest area awaits at Lake Orranäsasjön with a swimming area and summer café.

After the stop, cycle 2 km north on road 31 to Hälleberga and Gullaskruv.Hälleberga church often has a summer café. An alternative is to turn off after 1 km to Pålavik and take the railway bank north to Hälleberga.Then follow old road 31 until it crosses the railway embankment and follow it to Målerås.
