Description

"Kalmar's green room"

Kalmar City Park, named Sweden's most beautiful in 1985, is a wonderful green oasis beautifully situated next to Kalmar Castle overlooking Kalmarsund.

Built between 1877 and 1880, the park is designed in a romantic English style inspired by the great outdoors, offering bright and shady areas, open and closed spaces, and a rich variety of trees and shrubs, typical of the English park style.

To enhance the romantic atmosphere, exotic plants such as bamboo, magnolia, tulip trees and walnut trees have been planted. There is also the unusual handkerchief tree, which flowers beautifully in spring.

The park's pond is adorned with the sculpture "Springflickan", created by the artist Arvid Källström. In addition, there is a bust of the wholesaler Johan Jeansson, whose donation laid the foundation for the city park.

During summer evenings, various musical performances are organized on the park's stage, filling the air with delightful tunes. The park also houses the Kalmar Art Museum and an adjacent restaurant with a panoramic view of Slottsfjärden and a playground.

Whether you're picnicking, walking or just enjoying the inspiring environment, Stadsparken is a real gem in Kalmar - a place where nature and art harmonize in a beautiful way.
