Description
Späckemåla is a mosaic of forests, rocky areas and pastures. The highest natural values are found where the broadleaf trees dominate. The nature reserve is also a place of cultural and historical interest, with several burial grounds and graves scattered throughout the forest and land.
Noble forests
A large part of the nature reserve is covered in deciduous forest. Oak is the most common, but lime, ash, elm and maple also grow here. As you walk through the forest, you will come across large trees with impressive crowns. These giant trees are several hundred years old.
Trees with diversity
Ageing deciduous trees in old-growth forests are a haven for endangered species. If you look closely at the rough, broken bark of the old trees, you will see a mosaic of lichens. Greenery all year round
In spring, before the foliage closes completely, wood anemone, musk madder, spring pea and toothwort sprout in the rich soil. In the fall, the flowers are a memory, but a plethora of mosses spread over the ground and adorn rocks and tree trunks. Goldilocks moss, trap moss and rough baron moss are just a few examples.
Historic stones
In several places in the nature reserve there are ancient remains in the form of graves and burial grounds. Round, filled stones show where ancient people buried their loved ones. The largest stone is nine meters in diameter, and is found in the northern burial ground.

Regulations
In the nature reserve you are not allowed:
