Description

**The museum is housed in an old well-preserved hammer forge that shows the mill's 350-year history and products.

The mill was founded by Walloons in 1655. It was the availability of ore, forests and waterfalls that led to the mill being located here. Initially, production consisted of pig iron and bar iron, cannons and cannonballs. In 1776, a blacksmith's shop was built and the mill began to produce horseshoes, nails, axes, shovels, household utensils and the like. Around the turn of the century 1800, cannon casting was discontinued, and the focus shifted to housewares and blacksmithing.

In 1850, plow production was started, and after a few years also other agricultural tools. In addition, timber products, windows and doors, forestry and agricultural products, electric motors and parts for office machines have been manufactured. Today, ploughs, seed drills and fertilizer spreaders are manufactured.

The number of employees in the 1970s was around 1000. The mill was then one of the county's largest industries. In 2010, the average number of employees was 170. The mill celebrated its 350th anniversary in 2005.
