Övernattningsstuga Hällveberg

**Welcome to the cottage in Hällveberg, which is accessible to hikers on the East Coast Trail.

Originally the place was called Hedvigsberg but nowadays it is called Hällveberg on the map.

The cottage was built in the late 1890s and replaced an older, much smaller cottage that was located between the current one and the well.

The last people to live here and who leased Hedvigsberg from 1920-1967 were Elly and Arvid Brenander. The small farm originally had six acres of land. In addition to pigs, sheep and chickens, they initially had two cows, but eventually five. All driving was done with steers until the mid-1940s. Arvid bred and drove in steers and could sell a finished pair every two years. The well on the farm was dug as late as the early 1940s. Before that, water had to be fetched from a spring about 500 meters from the house. Winters could be very difficult for people living this far away, and even into the 1960s it was possible to be completely isolated for up to five days at a time.

The cottage consists of a kitchen and a living room on the ground floor and two rooms upstairs. There is basic kitchen equipment. Well and simple dry toilet in the yard. Döderhults Naturskyddsförening recommends boiling the well water. Electricity is missing, bring a flashlight and power bank for your cell phone!

The standard of the cottage is simple, here you live in the middle of the forest and can enjoy a wealth of silence with nature's animals as company.

Fires are not allowed outside the cabin.

**The fee for staying overnight is 100 SEK per person in the cabin and 50 SEK per person in a tent at the cabin.
