Fishing rules for the coast

Fishing with hand gear is allowed on the coast in public and private waters. Handline fishing means fishing with a rod. Trolling fish in private waters is prohibited without the permission of the fishing right holder.

Along the entire east coast, the catch of pike is limited; a maximum of three per fisherman and day with dimensions of 40-75 cm. Fishing for salmon and trout is prohibited from October 1 to December 31 in waterways that flow into the Baltic Sea. Observe the protection zones at the mouths of the rivers.

Minimum size along the coast:

• salmon 60 cm
• trout 50 cm
• pike 40 cm
• pikeperch 40 cm.

Fish caught during the closed season, or which do not meet the minimum size, must be released immediately. Hand-held fishing gear may not be used closer than 100 meters from a fisherman's fixed gear or fish farm. It is prohibited for recreational fishermen to sell fish from the sea.

Respect and protect our nature

To protect the fish stocks in our waters, many anglers today practice Catch & Release. This means releasing the fish, provided they are unharmed. In this way, the population of viable fish is built up. Everyone is responsible for complying with the applicable fishing rules and restrictions and for buying a valid fishing license.
