Description
At Brudhyltan there was a drained marsh (Hökamaden) where the municipality in collaboration with landowners has raised the water level in the marsh.
The purpose of the re-wetting is to enable the bog to hold more water during the flood period and for more water to linger during the dry season to strengthen the landscape's water-holding capacity, the durability of the peat in the ground and consolidate the bog as an oasis for wildlife.
A fish bypass has also been built through a lake threshold so that the dam does not constitute a migration barrier to Åleboån.
The project ran between 2021 and 2023 and was co-financed by government grants for local nature conservation projects (LONA).
