Description
Today, Hörle Mill consists of stone foundations, cultural remains of the industrial activities that once took place on the site.
The origin of Hörle Bruk and the Hörle community is the waterfall in River Lagan. As early as the 14th century, the waterfall was used as a source of power, and a mill was built. Medieval sources indicate that Nydala Abbey was a prominent owner with several mills in the region, including in Hörle. The first records about the operation of the mill in Hörle date back to 1360, when Ulf Arvidsson donated his share to Nydala Abbey. Operations at the mill continued until 1961.
