Description

The Habomossens nature reserve is beautifully situated in an attractive landscape with surrounding ridges and lakes. Out on the bog is a pine-covered islet that contrasts with the open bog. The special character of the area has its origins in the melting of the inland ice.

Habomossen is located in the southern part of Hökensås, an area with powerful gravel and sand deposits from the Ice Age. The deposits are nutrient-poor and well-drained, which is probably the reason for the sparse lichen, heath and moorland that characterize the area.
