Description
Området bjuder på granskog med stor inblandning av asp, sälg och björk. Det är ett område som brunnit och det kan man se på gamla brandskadade stubbar och fortfarande levande tallar. De största naturvärdena hittar man bland lövträden som utvecklat en grov bark där lavar och vedsvampar fått fäste. Bland många signalarter har det påträffats korallblylav, lunglav, rostfläck och smalskaftslav.
Det förekommer en hel del lågor och torrakor i området. Grov bark och död ved ger förutsättningar för ett rikt insekts- och fågelliv. En del tallar som är uppåt 300 år gamla finns också.

In Bispgården, at Fors church, cross the Indalsälven river, turn south and follow the road through the villages of Österåsen and Västeråsen. The turnoff to Reva is passed and after another 1.8 kilometers you reach a three-way intersection. There you turn left and after just over 1 kilometer there is a forest road on the left that leads to Sälgedalsberget.

Welcome to Sälgedalsberget. Please note that within the nature reserve it is not allowed to:
- pick and collect species of various kinds, with the exception of berries and edible mushrooms,
- climbing trees, staying near a bird of prey's nest, lair or pot, collecting animals or otherwise deliberately harming or disturbing wildlife,
- damaging the ground, boulders, vegetation, dry trees or other dead wood
- make fires, other than with firewood brought in
- drive a motorized vehicle off-road
