Description

In 1809, on July 25, an armistice was signed between Swedish and Norwegian troops under the command of C G von Döbeln and GF von Krogh. The peace stone commemorates a historic event when Major General von Döbeln forced a superior Danish force back towards the Norwegian border, after setting up his guns on the high hills near the village and letting Revsund's company walk the Mattmar road to ambush the enemy. Not far from Råkåskaftet, the Danish commander von Grogh signed the peace treaty hastily written by von Döbeln. It is said that the tablet was used as a desk by a Swedish soldier. The stone was erected in 1934 by Mörsils Hembygdsförening, in memory of a 125-year peace
