Description
**Varberg's first snorkeling trail has been built on Getterön's first bay. The snorkeling trail is about 300 meters long and stretches over sandy bottoms, eelgrass beds and seaweed-covered rocks. Perfect for those who like to explore!
Thirteen buoys lead down to signs fixed to a concrete foundation on the seabed. The signs offer exciting underwater reading for those who want to learn more about marine life and the problems of eutrophication, environmental toxins and litter.
To snorkel, you need to be able to swim. The white buoys are placed in shallow water, while the red ones are placed in deeper water. The depth can vary between low and high tide, but the maximum depth is about three meters and the minimum depth is just over one meter.
It is important to never snorkel alone and to be mindful of your safety and the safety of others along the snorkeling trail. If a station seems too difficult, it is better to skip it.
To go exploring, you should have a cyclops, preferably a snorkel and a pair of fins. Snorkeling equipment is also available for free loan via Hattaviken's kiosk.
The snorkeling trail has been developed by Varberg municipality in collaboration with Varberg's diving club, Varberg's lifesaving society and the Swedish Society for Nature Conservation.
