Gunnars mery-go-round

In the forest outside Drängsered in the middle of nowhere you will find Gunnar's carousel and a beautiful barbecue area.

Gunnar Karlsson in Höghult was a handy jack of all trades. He was a farmer, ran a small sawmill and an ironworks and helped out in the area with craft work.

The year is 1972 and Gunnar is 65 years old when he decides to recapture a childhood he never had and goes into the forest. There he dams up a stream, builds a water wheel and installs a gearbox from an old Volvo. Over the water wheel he builds a carousel and drags four garden benches that he screws to the floor. Gunnar now has his own water-powered carousel.

It's now 49 years later, but Gunnar's carousel is still out there. No water flows under the carousel anymore and the forest has moved closer.
