Description
Storjungfrun nature reserve is Söderhamn's largest island. Here awaits a magnificent nature with many fine marked trails to hike. There are about 14 km of marked trails on the island waiting to be explored. The island is relatively unexploited with a varied landscape, rich in flora, several historical values that are of great importance for outdoor life and recreation. Storjungfrun offers a wide variety of land types, from bare rocks, shingle fields and dry boulder-rich moraine soils to limestone-affected fertile soils and several wetlands. Sweden's last coal-fired lighthouse is located on the island, well worth a visit!
About 3 kilometers from the lighthouse harbor is the fine sandy beach Toppatall, a much appreciated walk and popular beach.
You can get to Storjungfrun by boat. If you want to stay overnight, you can book archipelago cottages.
