Barmarksled, Ålsjön

South of Ålsjön there is a forest that is particularly valuable due to its great age. The mixed coniferous forest on the steep slope south of Ålsjön is not affected by modern forestry. Old trees and decaying wood are home to unusual species such as the woodland mushrooms scented skin and cream tick and aspen feather moss. The old forest is home to woodpeckers, birds of prey and titmice. Alongside a babbling brook grows stinkweed, goldenrod and the large fern ostrich fern. There is also a bird tower.

The walk: From the parking lot, walk straight ahead parallel to the E4, along the fence. Follow the path, mainly wooden pavement, along the water. After a bridge you come to a crossing of paths. Continue straight ahead in the direction of "Sand".

Follow the narrow forest path and ahead go over a footbridge, through a gate. the path bends to the left and goes through the edge of the forest. It curves a little further into the forest until you reach a junction of paths. Turn left here. A little further on, at a Y-junction, take the path to the right. Follow the path along the edge of the nature reserve. You walk intermittently over a narrow path and a wooden sidewalk. You pass an information board. Further on, you will come to a bird tower and the primeval forest.

If you want to continue walking around Ålsjön: Follow the path. Cross the wooden bridge over a stream, then keep left at the junction, in the direction of "Sand". At the sign, ignore the path to the right. You arrive at a junction with a sign.

Turn left here, onto a path for scooters, which narrows ahead. Follow the path straight ahead, past cattle fences. The path turns right with the fence. You come to a gravel road near a house. Turn left here and after 50 meters you come to a paved road. Turn left here. Follow the road for 1.4 km and then take the first asphalt road to the left. After about 1 km, just before the E4, turn left and you are back at the parking lot.
