Description
Skjortnäs Östra and Skjortnäs Västra are two nearby areas that consist mostly of forest land, but also include some marshland. The area is located a few kilometers in on a toll road, which makes the area less accessible. Once inside the reserve, the lake, forests and marshes offer fine nature experiences. The area is located 5 kilometers northwest of Bergby and covers 16 and 32 hectares respectively. The forest has been allowed to grow old, and shows off large rough pines with thick bark. Some of them are 250 years old.
Where the soil is a little more moist, old spruces grow together with coarse aspens with large crowns. There are also dead lying and standing trees.
The environment with old living and dead trees provides space for many species. Birds such as capercaillie, wolverine, sparrow owl and skylark thrive here. There is also the red-listed three-toed woodpecker. Other red-listed species growing in these two reserves are the aspen tick, the woolly tick and the common tick, as well as the old spruce lichen and the twig lichen, which indicate high natural values.

Regulations
