Description
Sweden’s first butterfly trail is located south of Gävle. Along the trail, you have the chance to see up to 50 different species.
The butterfly trail in Grinduga is definitely worth a visit during the summer months. Here, you can choose to walk or bike while keeping an eye out for different butterflies that thrive along various stretches of the trail.
The butterfly trail is a three-kilometer-long gravel path featuring several different types of habitats that support a variety of butterfly species. This means that over the course of a summer, you can spot more than 50 different species of butterflies if you visit the trail at different times throughout the season. Some butterflies fly in the spring, others in the middle of summer, and a few in late summer.
The roadside verges along the Butterfly Trail are mowed in mid-September; only one side of the road is mowed each year, and they alternate between the two sides.
Butterfly Road is located south of Grinduga and is signposted from the village. If you’re coming by car, you can park along the gravel road.
