Description
Brännvinsmuren in Kaspersbo, Garpenberg, is an unusually impressive stone wall located right next to Garpenberg's northern mining area. It is 140 meters long, 3.5 meters wide and at least 1.5 meters high. The wall is believed to have been built before 1821, probably by crofters who worked on the wall to pay off their liquor debts to innkeeper Berglund in Finnhyttan. Hence the name Brännvinsmuren. A fine old agricultural landscape surrounds the wall.
From the wall there is a marked trail towards Rönningen, where it is possible to connect to Bensåsleden or continue a short walk to the large ash tree in Rönningen.
