Blåberget vid Persbo naturreservat
- Nature reserve
- County: Dalarnas län
Actions
Description
Mountain shaped by sea
The summit of Blåberg reaches 196 meters above sea level, which is close to the highest level reached by the sea surface (the highest coastline). As a result, this mountain has been heavily worked by wave action, so that bare, often almost flat, rocks dominate the top of the mountain. Down the slope follows a heavily eroded, richly blocky moraine.
Old pines and large junipers
The forest is a fine rocky pine forest where the pines are around 10 m high and 150 to 300 years old. There are old, large junipers and a great lichen richness characteristic of rocky areas. In the nature reserve you can also experience a rich bird life with species such as great spotted woodpecker, crossbill and capercaillie. Within the boundaries you will also find a nice pond with surrounding coniferous swamp forest and marsh.
A marked trail about 1.5 km long runs through the reserve.
