Älvravinerna

Älvravinerna is a green lung in the middle of Borlänge. There is room for recreation and great nature experiences. The area stretches between Bullerforsen and Domnarvsbron and is covered by lush deciduous forest with rich plant and animal life. The Älvrundan walking trail runs along the shores around the reserve.

Lush greenery The forest in Älvravinerna is dominated by deciduous trees. The most common trees are birch, aspen, gray alder, willow and rowan, but there are also beech, grapevine, elm, maple and almond willow. The herb flora gets the most light in the spring before the leaves have fallen, and then the ground is covered with wood anemones and lily of the valley.

Have you seen the kingfisher? The deciduous forest has a rich bird life with species such as the lesser spotted woodpecker, barn owl, stone curlew and kingfisher. The small turquoise kingfisher can be difficult to spot, but it is a regular visitor to the area and can be seen fishing from tree branches over the water.

Popular walking area Älvrundan is a popular walking route around the banks of the river, which is used extensively by schools and walkers. At the old farm, the ravines have been fenced off and the municipality's cows graze the land to preserve the old pasture.
