Description

One of few preserved infantry fortifications of this type in Sweden. Sturkö fortifications were built in 1904 and comprise an inner structure surrounded by a ditch with an embankment on the far side. The main building is made of concrete and contains the officers’ mess, the under-officers’ mess, the men’s mess, kitchen, store rooms, guard rooms and a bunker.

A company, about 100 men, manned the fortifications and could fire on the enemy from gun loops.
