Description

In the Persgärde nature reserve you can experience several types of nature and great biodiversity. The area consists mainly of species-rich broadleaf forests. Interspersed in the area are also species-rich moors and pastures.

The three nature reserves Kvallåkra, Östra Kvallåkra and Persgärde protect a large contiguous area of valuable forest. There are old trees and dead wood, which many birds, insects, mosses and lichens appreciate. The reserves are linked by several marked paths.

Coniferous forest with diversity

The reserve, which is located in the deciduous forest of Blekinge, consists of two sub-areas. County road 631 passes through the northern area, which goes up to Svartasjön, and also borders Östra Kvallåkra. Hardwood forests grow there. Oak and beech are the most common tree species. The forest has largely been allowed to live its own life over the past 50 years and has developed into a natural forest. There are plenty of older trees, stumps and barns, which are habitats for many species.

Rich flora

A ditch runs through the eastern part of the reserve. There is Dammkärret with open marshes in it. Cuckoo flowers, hop flowers and meadow rush thrive in Dammkärret. Where the marsh turns into forest, you may be lucky enough to find the orchid nettle root, one of the few Swedish plants that lacks chlorophyll.

In the southern sub-area, which lies on its own north of Norra Öllesjön, grows grove-like oak forest and a fine grove flora with species such as toothwort, musk madder and spring pea. There are grazing animals during the summer.

There is a parking lot south of the road, in the eastern part of the area. A shelter and toilet are located in the southern (eastern) part of Persgärde, by Lake N. Öllesjön.
