Actions
Description
Bråtabron is a small nature reserve with lots to discover. You can hike in oak and mixed forests or look for the red-listed fungus fire blight on wind-felled spruces. Bråtabron's old church road passes through the reserve.
Deciduous forest and red-listed species
Most of the nature reserve is dominated by mixed forest with broadleaf trees, but there are also parts with pure oak forest and smaller elements of beech. Several red-listed species, mainly lichens and fungi, occur in the reserve. In the northern part there is a stream valley with older spruce forest. The red-listed wood fungus fire blight grows on several of the wind-felled spruces. On heights with late-growing oaks, there is flower beard lichen growing in the upper parts of the tree crowns.
Two lakes with different characters
The reserve contains two lakes. Lake Norsjön is a common type of lake in the area. It is surrounded by a dense border of sedges and reeds. The surface of the water is largely open, although there is plenty of aquatic vegetation in places. The Baltic Sea is an overgrown shallow lake. The surface is covered by floating plants such as white and yellow water lily and pike perch.
Cultural-historical traces
Bråtabron's old church road passes through the nature reserve. Along the church road are the foundations of a cottage and outbuildings. East of the deepened outlet from Lake Norsjön to the Baltic Sea, you can see the foundations of an old croft.
