The hiking trails on Hanö are currently being upgraded

Work is currently underway to upgrade the hiking trails on Hanö. New trail markings are being installed, signage is being improved, and several parts of the island are becoming more accessible. The goal is to make it easier to find your way and allow more people to experience Hanö’s nature.
A clearer trail around the island
One of the main developments is Hanö Rund, a roughly 5.5 km hiking trail that takes you through some of the island’s most varied landscapes. Here, open coastal stretches meet rocky shores and more sheltered areas with forest and winding paths.
Parts of the trail will be more challenging, while at the same time becoming more accessible thanks to clearer structure and improved guidance. Once completed, Hanö Rund will be part of ARK56 – the linked coastal trails within the Blekinge Archipelago UNESCO Biosphere Reserve.
Easier to find your way
To make the experience smoother, new trail markings and signposts are being installed along the routes. This allows visitors to move more confidently across the island and focus on the surroundings rather than navigating.
More accessible sections
At the same time, improvements are being made to the more accessible parts of the island, including the trail towards Bönsäcken and the path leading up to the lighthouse.
These upgrades include:
- new gravel surfaces for improved accessibility
- access for wheelchairs and strollers
- additional seating areas along the trails
This makes it possible for more people to experience Hanö, regardless of their needs.
Pauses with a view
Hanö is a place where it’s easy to slow down. With more seating along the trails, it becomes even easier to take a break, enjoy the view, and simply be present for a moment.
The sea is never far away, and the landscape shifts quickly – from open and windswept to calm and more sheltered.
Part of a larger initiative
The upgrade of the hiking trails on Hanö is part of a broader initiative to make nature reserves more accessible. The work is funded through project grants from Region Blekinge and national government funding for trail development.
Hanö is a place that offers nature, history, and stories all year round. Dramatic landscapes meet traces of maritime history and a sense of stillness that is hard to find anywhere else.
