All bird protection areas in Blekinge are now marked in Naturkartan with clear information about the dates when access restrictions apply.
This makes it easier for visitors to plan their trips, find their way, and show respect for the birds that need peace and quiet during their sensitive breeding periods.

Purpose – Why these protected areas exist

Bird protection areas are established to protect birds and their habitats, so they can breed, rest, and survive without disturbance — and to help preserve biodiversity.

Period – When the protection applies

In all bird protection areas in Blekinge, access is prohibited between April 1 and July 15, when many coastal birds are nesting.

What the access restriction means

Within bird protection areas in Blekinge, it is forbidden between April 1 and July 15 to enter land or water areas or to hunt.

The restriction applies both on land and in the surrounding waters, and is decided by the County Administrative Board (Länsstyrelsen) in accordance with the Swedish Environmental Code (Chapter 7, Section 12).
