Effective 5 May 2025, a fire ban is imposed in Blekinge County until further notice. This means that lighting fires or barbecuing in nature is not allowed. Activities such as lighting fires, barbecuing, or burning materials using solid fuel (such as wood, charcoal, grass, brush, or branches) are prohibited.

The prohibition is being enacted to help prevent human-caused wildfires and protect public safet

Natural values can be lost quickly and many parts of Blekinge Arkipelag are difficult to access for firefighting work. Be careful out there!

Allowed to grill in a grill on your own property or in a fixed grill area in a public place

It is permitted to grill with solid fuels (wood, coal, grass, rice, branches) on your own property in a grill or other device for cooking. The device must be designed so that there is no risk of fire spreading, for example by being raised off the ground or by standing on a fire-proof surface. The same applies to restaurants, campsites and similar businesses within their own area of operation.

Grilling is also permitted in fixed barbecue areas in public areas, which are designed so that the risk of fire spreading is low. A fixed grill is a place that is built specifically for grilling. It is delimited with, for example, concrete pipes or stone. Around the site there must be a wide ground surface with gravel or other fireproof material.

A disposable grill is not a permanent grilling area and is therefore forbidden to use when there is a fire ban.

Allowed to use outdoor kitchens

You may use trangia kitchens and other open-air kitchens that are powered by liquid or gas if the risk of heat and fire spreading to the surroundings is low.
