Description

On the eastern side of Kinnekulle lies a small nature reserve with a 3-kilometer hiking trail that winds through pastures and meadows, creating beautiful, lush scenery.

The trail takes you past old oaks and lindens in the fertile pastures and across a blooming meadow. During summer, cowslips, early marsh orchids, and the orcid St. Peter’s keys grow in the area. In several places, you can see old quarry pits, remnants from the time when our ancestors mined alum shale here. These traces are now protected as ancient monuments.

The nature reserve depends on grazing, which means that cows and sheep often graze here during parts of the year, helping to keep the landscape open and rich in life.
