Stoms ås, Naturreservat

In Stoms ås, wonderful walks in hilly terrain await both those who are eager to explore and those who seek peace in nature.

The paths wind alternately in the beech forest, which is said to be one of Mark municipality's largest and is a remnant of a much larger deciduous forest. There is a lot of dead wood in the area, i.e. whole or parts of dead trees, which gives a sense of mystery. Especially during fall mornings when the mist meanders between the trees. The dead wood plays an important role in the forest, as it is home to a variety of interesting insects, mosses and fungi.

From the Torberg viewpoint, you get a view of Hyssna church, farmland and farms. For those interested in cultural history, exploration awaits further south in the reserve. There you will find an earth cellar, the remains of Qvintes soldier's village, and other traces of people who lived here in the past. It's good to know that the Hyssn Trail runs through the reserve.
