Gustavsberg

The Gustafsberg area is located on the south side of Byfjorden. In the center of the area is the well-known seaside resort of Gustafsberg, dating back to the 18th century. The Gustafsberg area is of great importance for recreation for the urban population of Uddevalla, but also has significant tourist interest. A major attraction is the well-preserved and culturally and historically interesting bathing resort building, which today houses a hostel. The adjacent park is also worth seeing. The area is criss-crossed by small roads and paths. There is a public swimming area at Lindesnäs. Flora and fauna Coniferous forest with mainly spruce covers most of the mountainous terrain in the area. In the east along the access road to Uddevalla there are lower parts, where the strongly meandering Bodeleån river cuts deep into clay-rich sediments. The ravine slopes, which were previously pasture land and kept open by grazing, are now characterized by grove vegetation with rich ground flora. The bird life is also interesting, with species such as the common grayling and the common tern. The watercourse also has a reproducing trout population.
