Description

The Biosphere Trail is a 140-kilometer hiking trail that stretches between Mariestad and Läckö Castle along the southern edge of Lake Vänern. The trail offers a fantastic variety of nature and culture - from deep forests and open landscapes to charming towns, historical sights and magnificent views of the lake.

Along the way you can discover gems such as Läckö Castle, Spiken's fishing village, Kinnekulle's dramatic plateau mountains and the Old Town of Mariestad. There are plenty of opportunities for coffee, accommodation and exciting experiences whether you make a day trip or hike the entire trail.

The area is part of the Väner Archipelago with Kinnekulle, which is one of UNESCO's biosphere reserves, which means that nature and local life work together to promote sustainable development and preserve biodiversity.
