Description

The nature reserve consists of an entire parish with 23 islands and 222 islets and skerries in Lake Mälaren. The two largest islands are Ängsön and Långholmen. Here you will find a healthy mix of farmers, castle people, islanders and outdoor enthusiasts.

On Ängsö you will find six different hiking trails that are between 1.5 - 8.5 kilometers long. Here you can experience the varied landscape with exciting nature and historical traces. Along the hiking trails there are rest areas, several with barbecue areas and dry toilets. It is also nice to cycle on the narrow roads in the nature reserve. Near the castle there is a viewing platform with an associated rest area that can be reached by wheelchair. Some of the islands in the nature reserve have guest harbors and dry toilets. You can also take a swim in Lake Mälaren from one of the rocks on the western side of the island!
