Selångersfjärden runt

A nice excursion, especially by bicycle, is Selångersfjärden around. The loop around the lakes is 5.7 km. If you start in town and follow Storgatan - Västra Vägen in one direction and the southern riverbank in the other direction, the total distance is 15 km, starting at Mid Sweden University. You can cross Selångersån at the old railway bridge. The area has high botanical values with almost jungle-like vegetation and also cultural values with Selångers church ruins, St. Olavsleden and Bronze Age graves. There is also a bird tower for those who want to look for birds. If you bring a packed lunch, you can enjoy it at the sunny south side of the church ruin or at the bird tower. If you prefer to buy food, Selångers Pilgrim Center serves lunch on weekdays 11-14. The café is open longer, and also on weekends. Around the bay there are informative signs about the place, posted in many places. Stop and read about the plants, birds and history!
