Description

This mountain cabin accepts payment by card but also bring some cash with you on your hike. Telecommunications do not always work in the mountains.

The location on the slope means that you have a nice view towards Aigert and the marsh at Tjul to the east. If you arrive at the beginning of August, it might be worth keeping an eye open and bucket ready for the gold of northern Sweden – cloudberry.

Easiest way here is to order a boat taxi from Ammarnäs over Tjul marsh. After, on a few kilometres remain up the mountain cabin.

Our mountain cabins offer a simple and authentic stay in multi-bedded rooms with self catering. The rooms are different sizes with bunk beds and usually heated by gas stoves. On site you will be greeted by a cabin manager. As a guest you chop wood, fetch water from the stream or lake, wash up and clean up after youself.

Directions

STF Serve Mountain Cabin is located along the Ammarnäs–Hemavan stage of the Kungsleden trail. The cabin can be reached from nearby cabins along the Kungsleden, from STF Aigert Mountain Cabin to the east or from STF Tärnasjö Mountain Cabin to the west.

You can also reach Serve directly from Ammarnäs. The trail then follows the Tjulån river from Ammarnäs to Stor-Tjulträsket and continues along the lake towards Serve Mountain Cabin. The distance from Ammarnäs is approximately 22 km. During summer, boat transport is available across Stor and Lill-Tjulträsket, reducing the hike by about 10 km. More information about boat transport in the mountains can be found at www.swedishtouristassociation.com/boats

Take the train to Umeå and then take a regional bus with Länstrafiken to Ammarnäs.

You can also start from the parking area at Stor-Tjulträsket, from where the distance is approximately 15 km. Car parking is available both in Ammarnäs and at Stor-Tjulträsket.
