Description

Spärrmyrberget nature reserve is an interesting destination for those interested in flora. The rare orchids guckusko and norna grow here. The reason why norna and guckusko thrive in the area is that there is a large element of basic minerals in the bedrock and moraine, which together with moving groundwater creates conditions for a lime-demanding flora.

The area's forests consist mainly of mixed coniferous forests with a rich element of deciduous trees such as aspen and willow. In the southern parts there are also limestone pine forests and herb-rich forest fens. Along the small stream that runs through the nature reserve there is rich vegetation including lily of the valley, chafing grass, mountain laurel, bluebell and mountain laurel. There are plenty of burnt stumps that bear witness to previous forest fires.
