Description
There is a group of pine trees here that bear unique traces. These are pines that were stripped in the 1870s to be used for tar pits. Stripping is the removal of bark on one side of the trunk. The bark then grows over the damage to the trunk. The wood that grows over the damage is particularly suitable for use in the tar valley.
Most of the trees were taken down and used when they died, but here they remain as a memorial from a bygone era. The path through the natural memories leads on to Albin's tar valley.
