Kallkälltegens nature reserve is an island of old forest in a managed forest landscape.
The area has never been clear-cut. The forest feels magical with its hanging lichen-draped spruces and gnarled willows.
The trees are left to grow old and die at their own pace. The dead wood becomes home to many endangered wood fungi, lichens and insects.
