Description
The forest in this reserve has grown up following a fire. The last fire here was in 1905. The area is home to a large number of silver birches. On dry pine land like this, silver birches will almost only emerge following a fire.
Forestry has had a major impact on other forests in this region. The forest in the reserve is well on the way to resembling virgin forest and must therefore be allowed to continue developing freely.
There is an old hay-making mire around the forest, in which relics of hay-making barns can be seen.
