Description

The pine forests in Djupvik are located on a sand esker, surrounded by a number of beautiful lakes and wetlands.

The sparse pine forest is around 100 years old. In the past, the largest timber trees were cut down, leaving behind the smaller, gnarled, twisted or decay-damaged trees. That is why the forest is fairly sparse, with no dead trees either standing upright or lying on the ground.

Research regarding fish is being conducted in the reserve’s lakes.
