Description

The nature reserve is home to an extremely beautiful pine forest. In addition, the southern part of the reserve is particularly dramatic, with rocky slopes and areas of moisture that support lush vegetation. There is also a small forest lake in the northern section. From the sign for the reserve, a path winds its way to the little lake. The reserve is easy to visit, as Route 365 north of Norsjö passes right through it. Parking areas can be found in a couple of places along the road.

Wood millet and the calypso orchid grow in the southern parts. There are also slightly more spruce and deciduous trees there than in the other parts.

The pine forest is around 200 years old and has experienced forest fires at regular intervals. The forest has also been subjected to selective logging, where the trees that were felled were chosen specifically without felling the entire forest. Stumps have also been broken up for tar-making.
