Björnbergstjärnen

The forest in Björnbergstjärnen has long been unaffected by forestry. Here you can find both virgin spruce forest at higher altitudes as well as lush, herb-rich spruce forests.

Around the top of the mountain you can see very old spruce trees, some up to 300 years old. Björnbergtjärnen has been developing its natura values for a very long time, with the result that several red-listed and other interesting species have been found in the area.

The forest is more productive on the eastern slopes, with numerous thick trees. The spruces here are covered in lichen. Some of this lichen is up to a metre in length.
