Description
The Utmarksmuseum (Outland museum) in Ransby is a meeting place for discovery and learning about the nature, culture and history of the outback regions.
The exhibitions at the museum changes from year to year, and describes the way of life of the people in the region, in the past and in the present.
Summer 2019 a new hunting and fishing exhibition was inaugurated. The museum also hosts the Pilgim Tapestry, a 40 m long embroidered linnen tapestry, as the Swedish modern equivalent to the French Bayeux tapestry. It is exhibited in a medieval-style timber longhouse next to the Utmarksmuseum. The Pilgrim Tapestry tells two stories: one about the group of unemployed women who embroiderad the tens of thousands of stitches in the 1990s, and the fantastic picture story of the Pilgrim's Way between Hammarö and Nidaros.
Café Utmark serves homebaked pastry and lunch dishes. The café also has a well-assorted gift shop.
Accessible for the disabled.
Hearing loop available for the Pilgrim Tapestry.
