Riding tours on Icelandic horses

Saddle up and let the forest embrace you – Kalvbergsåsens islandshästar invites you to explore Munkfors’ enchanting woodlands, any time of year.

Ride through peaceful woodlands, along winding forest paths and quiet gravel roads, accompanied by calm, friendly Icelandic horses and an experienced leader.

Everyone is invited – young or old, with or without prior experience. Riders under the age of 12 without experience are recommended to join rides for children and beginners, where the horse is led by an adult. You can read more about that here.

Your ride begins with a short introduction in the paddock before heading out into the forest. Arriving a little early is encouraged so you have time to meet and connect with your horse. On rides that last three hours or longer, a traditional Swedish fika is included – served at a scenic spot in the forest where you can relax, breathe in the fresh air, and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. With a bit of luck, you may even spot some of the forest’s wild inhabitants – perhaps a curious fox, a deer, or a majestic moose.

Kalvbergsåsen islandshästar offers rides throughout the year, from short one-hour outings to full-day adventures. If you're feeling unsure in the saddle, join a calm-paced tour with extra guides. More experienced riders can enjoy faster-paced tour with more variation and excitement.

Good to know:

• All tours are led by a trained and experienced leader.
• Certified riding helmets are available to borrow.
• Dress comfortably and weather-appropriate, preferably in shoes with a small heel.
• Rides take place in all weather conditions.
• Bookings are binding – cancellations must be made at least one week in advance.
• Weight limit: 90 kg.
