Description

Block-rich old forest surrounding the watercourses Långlikan and Averåbäcken.

The nature reserve is mostly old spruce forest and a small part of pine forest. The forest is swampy in many places and the humidity in the air is high. The ground is sometimes rocky and bouldery.

The nature reserve was established to preserve biodiversity and valuable natural environments. Therefore, the area should be allowed to develop freely so that the forest can age naturally. The water balance in the soil can now be preserved.

Animals and plants

There are plenty of decaying tree trunks in the forest. There are also large trees that are old. Together, this means that the area has good habitats for rare lichens, mosses and fungi. Examples of such species are the lichens Pseudographis pinicola and Cystostereum murrayi.

The Långlikan stream runs through the area and has a unique strain of trout. The watercourse is biologically valuable from a Swedish perspective. The stream has good nursery areas for trout, among others. There are plenty of stretches of stream, pools of still water, dead tree branches and gravel beds in the stream.
