The Town Hotel

Beautifully situated by the river Klarälven and close to the Town Square you have the Town Hotel. It was completed in 1871 and was built to offer a first-class accommodation for the town´s visitors. The hotel had originally two floors but after 30 years it got a third. Over the years the buildning has been rebulit several times and some parts of the hotel have been listed. At the same place where the hotel now stands Karlstad´s first churh and graveyard were once located. In this block there are also remains of the oldest buildings in Karlstad. One of these remains is the cellar called Källaren Munken dated from the 17th century.
