Fountain "The Lotus Flower" by Nigel Wells

The sculpture is made from Älvdalen porphyry. With The Lotus Flower fountain, sculptor Nigel Wells aims to illustrate the movement and rhythmic qualities of water, following the so-called flowform principle. The idea is to encourage viewers to pause and reflect on why the water flows back and forth within the flower-shaped vessel, despite the absence of any mechanical control.

The fountain is cast in artificial stone, incorporating elements of Älvdalen porphyry, and was installed outside the entrance to the library in 1987.

Nigel Wells is a sculptor, builder, and gardener. He works with the natural movement patterns of water as his starting point. His fountain The Lotus Flower is one of Arvika’s contemporary public artworks.
