Description
Welcome to Lurö archipelago
In the center of Lake Vänern. The archipelago embraces about 250 islands and island rocks. The larger islands are dominated by open rock faces, pine woods with lichen, moss and heather. The archipelago offers a rich plant- and birdlife and you can see gulls, terns, osprey and white-tailed eagle. There are a number of different bird conservation areas in the archipelago where no staying is allowed within 100 meters from the conservation area. This also applies to the water around these areas. There a many historic places in the archipelago from vikings and pilgrims, to farmers and fishers, seaman and lighthouse keepers. The island Lurö has many findings and hiking trails and on the island of Vithall you can visit an old homestead museum.
