Kvarnstigen The Mill Path

The Mill Path, Kvarnstigen in Swedish, winds along the creek Viksälven, just outside Arvika. The 1-2 km long trail invites you to surroundings where nature and culture meet. Lush creek sides with old trees and wetlands are habitats for many species, such as the grey wagtail, dipper, lesser spotted woodpecker and otter.

The trail also passes traces from the iron and mill works era. There are remains of foundations, iron slag and other cultural reminders of the Segerfors works era and the saw mill environments once dominating the area.

The Segerfors mill lies just by the path. Its heritage of 200 years, is preserved by the Rackstad non-profit mill association. There is a picnic area and the dam shows some art objects. Every summer the mill is open to the public and filled with life through exhibitions, storytelling nights, a café, hikes, art and music events.
