Location: Värmlands län, Torsby municipality, about 8 kilometers east of Likenäs. Kölarnas nature reserve is most easily reached by taking road 62 to Ambjörby, just north at Sörnäs you turn off and follow the watercourse Fämtan all the way up to the nature reserve. Once there, there are several routes to choose from to reach different parts of the nature reserve.

In addition to other statutory provisions, it is prohibited in the reserve to

• felling or otherwise damaging living or dead trees or bushes, standing or fallen
• collect invertebrates, mosses, lichens and wood fungi
• driving a motorized vehicle
• tipping or stockpiling
• digging or pulling up vascular plants
• damaging, rearranging or removing rock, earth or stone,

Exemptions

The ban on driving motorized vehicles does not apply to existing roads or driving with snowmobiles on trails marked with red crosses and marked on the map in Appendix 2a. The ban also does not apply to the transport of materials by snowmobile for maintenance / renovation of cabins within the reserve, see Appendix 2b.
