Description
The 250 m long floatation flume in Fredros is one of the few remaining in Värmland.
It was built as the waterways of Gunnarskog in 1912 became an official flotation system. Flumes were built to facilitate the timber passages at difficult water falls, works, saw mills and mills.
Mostly it was used by the Jössefors works, floating timber from Lake Mången to Jössefors by Lake Glafsfjorden. The flume was in use till the middle of the 1960s, when logging trucks took over the transportation.
The stone bridge shown in the pictures, was built in 1817.
